Computing on cyber security

Quantum computing will revolutionize every industry because of the undeniable computing strength to solve complex problems that can't be solved with today's classical computer. Its implications reach into drug discovery, financial modeling, and even artificial intelligence. But one of the most critical areas where quantum computing's impact is being felt is in cybersecurity. The intersection of quantum computing and cybersecurity is one area that has never had this much unprecedented challenge and opportunity for the security of digital systems. As such, knowledge of the advantages of exploring how quantum computing might shape future changes in the cybersecurity landscape is indispensable.

1. Improving on Encryption Algorithms

Perhaps the most obvious impact that quantum computing may have on cybersecurity relates to the possibility of breaking the current encryption standards. Most of the schemes in use today rely on the difficulty of solving complex mathematical problems, such as factoring large numbers (RSA encryption), or the computation of discrete logarithms (Elliptic Curve Cryptography). These are horribly CPU-intensive operations for a classical computer to solve and therefore provide security. A quantum computer can easily beat these by solving this kind of problem…
